Meet the Doctor
Meet Dr. Hunter K. Woods -- the name, talent and guiding force of Woods Orthodontics, and the dedicated creator of strong, lasting, beautiful smiles.
Dr. Woods in an expert in his craft. A graduate of UVA, the WVU School of Dentistry, and the WVU Department of Orthodontics, he is exceptionally well educated. A member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Virginia Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Virginia Dental Association, he is extraordinarily well qualified. But, for Dr. Woods, the practice of orthodontics goes far beyond education and qualification.
"Our logo states that a great smile is in our nature,' notes Dr. Woods. "There's no doubt whatsoever about that. Creating healthy, radiant smiles is not just what I do. ..it's who I am."
And what of Dr. Woods' other passions? He enjoys golf, tennis, travel and college football. But most of all, he is a quiet, committed family man. Dr. Woods reveals his own contented smile — the smile of a man who has found both professional and personal fulfillment. Great smiles are definitely in his nature!
Meet Our Team
Mariah Long
Office Manager/Treatment Coordinator
Started the practice: May 2016
Mariah handles assisting the doctor with new patient exams, and explaining the treatment and setting up financial arrangements. She is the liaison for the practice guiding parents and patients through treatment. She is also an orthodontic technician.
Her favorite thing about working with Woods Orthodontics is that she loves getting to meet everyone and watching the younger kids grow up.
Mariah is married with two children. She loves spending time with her family, hiking and riding motorcycles.
Taylor Lach
Clinic Coordinator
Started with the practice: May 2018
Taylor is the senior assistant that manages our clinic and handles the patient flow to ensure our patients are given the best of care. She also trains and mentors the new orthodontic technicians along with handling the inventory and supply purchasing.
Her favorite thing about working with Woods Orthodontics is getting to know all the kids and watching them grow.
Taylor loves to learn new things and to travel to different places. She loves animals, especially her lab, Dixie. In her spare time, Taylor loves cooking and baking.
Karen Blevins
Scheduling Coordinator
Started with the practice: November 1996
Karen greets patients at the front desk, answers phone calls and schedule appointments. She also coordinates appointments with other doctor offices.
Her favorite thing about working with Woods Orthodontics is meeting and greeting the patients and parents.
Karen is from Sugar Grove, VA. She has two children and four grandchildren. She likes hanging out with friends and family. Karen enjoys being outside, the beach, baking and watching college basketball and football.
Sarah Terry
Scheduling Coordinator
Started with the practice: 2022
Sarah greets patients at the front desk, answers phone calls and schedule appointments. She also verifies insurance coverage and coordinates appointments with other doctor offices.
Her favorite thing about working at Woods Orthodontics is meeting and greeting patients and seeing the smiles on their faces. She has 2 children and they enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking, hunting and fishing together.
Linda McCloskey, CDA
Financial Coordinator
Started with the practice: May 2007
Linda handles the financial aspects of the practice such as filing insurance, financial contracts and collections. She also handles payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivables.
Her favorite thing about working for Woods Orthodontics is getting to know the patients and seeing the difference we make in their smile.
Linda is married and has three children. She received a technical certificate in Dental Assisting from Boise State University. She enjoys exercising, spending time with her family, and loves to travel. She is also a big fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Meghan Lyall
Lab Technician/Orthodontic Technician
Started with the practice: 2020
As the lab technician, Meghan fabricates retainers and small orthodontic appliances. She also trims orthodontic models for case study. She is also an Orthodontic technician where she works directly with the patient completing procedures as the doctor directs. Her duties include wire adjustments, x-rays, impressions and pour ups. She gives instructions on oral hygiene and how to take care of the appliances as well as updates the parents on the treatment given.
Her favorite thing about working at Woods Orthodontics is meeting new people and making retainers and appliances. Meghan is from Sparta, NC she has a daughter and they enjoy spending time outdoors with family and friends.
Haley Turner
Orthodontic Technician/Appliance Removal
Started with the practice: 2021
Haley removes the orthodontic appliances and reveals the beautiful new smile. She also works directly with the patient completing procedures as the doctor directs. Her duties include wire adjustments, x-rays, impressions and pour ups. She gives instructions on oral hygiene and how to take care of the appliances as well as updates the parents on the treatment given.
Her favorite thing about working at Woods Orthodontics is seeing the patients transformation from the start of treatment to the end of treatment. Haley is from Rural Retreat, VA. She loves being outdoors spending time with family and her dog, Lilly.
